Trim toenails straight across, not curved, to prevent ingrown nails. Keep them level with the toe tip. Use clean, sharp clippers. Trim after bathing when nails are softer.
Soak first to soften. If nails are too thick to trim safely — common with fungus or age — see a podiatrist.
